Meridian collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting. It makes no network requests at all. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device.
No personal data is collected, transmitted, sold or shared. There is no server operated for this app, so there is nowhere for data to be sent even in principle.
Meridian stores the following locally, in the app’s private storage, and nowhere else:
This data is covered by iOS’s own app sandbox. It is included in an iCloud or iTunes device backup if you use one, in which case Apple’s privacy policy governs that backup. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Meridian never requests location permission and does not use GPS. It reads the current time zone your device is already set to, which requires no permission and does not identify where you are.
None. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, and no third-party code that reports on your use of the app. Meridian does not track you across apps or websites, and there is nothing to opt out of.
Meridian is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
The city catalog comes from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and the globe’s coastlines from Natural Earth (public domain). Both are bundled in the app when you download it. Neither involves a request to those services from your device, and neither receives any data about you.
If a future version of Meridian ever collects anything, this page will say so before that version ships, and the date above will change.
